Abrolhos Islands, Pink Lake & Gorges Grand Tour From Geraldton

Tour Overview

This spectacular Air Tour offers scope as well as variety.

Heading west Grom Geraldton out to the Abrolhos Islands we begin our journey overflying the Pelsaert Group of the Abrolhos Islands before tracking North to the Wallabi Group.

Descending low past East Wallabi, West Wallabi and a spectacular surfing break called Super Tubes, we spend a further 20 minutes taking in the sights. The coral is as coral should be – a magnificent panorama of bright, vibrant colours which are viewable clearly through the shallow water.

After passing the fork on West Wallabi Island where the soldiers from the Batavia made their successful stand against the mutineers we overfly the fisherman’s huts and the scarred coral where the Batavia wreck was lifted from the reef before returning to the mainland to see the pink lake at Hutt Lagoon with its various hues of Pink.

After overflying the Pink Lake we continue North Along the Kalbarri Coastal Cliffs until we reach Kalbarri at the mouth of the Murchison River.

Following the RIver inland we experience the breathtaking Kalbarri National Park from the very best place to see it – from the air! We skip close past Ross Graham lookout and then along the full length of the Murchison River Gorges. The river has cut through the sandstone, allowing you to view steep rock faces with their stunning, multi-coloured rock layers. At this stage, you’re witnessing the Gorges up close, in detail – and personal!

The Mid West offers some of the most dramatic scenery in the whole of Australia, and a holiday to this amazing region is not complete without a view from above. Even if you have explored some of the Gorges by vehicle, a flight offers a totally different dimension and impression.

Indeed, many of Gorges are inaccessible, and un-viewable, except by air. After overpassing Hawkeshead, Little Z Bend, Big Z Bend, the Four Ways (an interesting formation of the river going one way and then two large cuts coming in from both directions). We overfly the loop taking in scenery from a totally different perspective before returning to Kalbarri airport.
When we say ‘Grand Tour’, we are not exaggerating. This is the trip of a lifetime!
